ARTIST OF THE MONTH

ORMENOS_BIS !

This month’s artist, Ormenis_Bis, is from Paris, France. He is a professional artist who studied contemporary art and graphic design in France.  I find his work to be an amazing example of simplicity creating complexity.  When I went to select images for this newsletter, I ended up with over twenty images! I sent that list to Ormenos, and between us, we narrowed that down to the images selected here.

I also wanted to break the image that erotic art often has: a highly aestheticized kind of work, especially in photography, and bring it into a certain modernity.

“I find that erotic art can be a bit mannerist, almost as if to make it acceptable to the general public. I respect that approach, but personally, I prefer to treat these drawings like any other subject.”

IT’S (ALMOST) ISABELLA TIME!!!

A lot of knowledgeable people will tell you ISABELLA SINCLAIRE is the world’s finest Dominatrix. We are thrilled to have Isabella opening our 2026 COUPLES PARTY SEASON. This will be the third year in a row Isabella has graced us in this manner. We normally limit Guest Hosts to two years, but Isabella is so exceptional that we will open every year with her for as long as she agrees.

Last year, in lieu of a hands-on workshop approach, I asked Isabella to just sit down in the dungeon, circled by our guests, tell us anything she would like to tell us about her life in and out of BDSM, and then take questions. This turned into one of the most memorable hour and a halves that has taken place in the La D dungeon. Words will fail, but here goes: it was insight-filled, deeply touching (there were tears shed within twenty minutes), educational, hilarious, highly motivational, and…perfect.

It was such an amazing talk, I asked if Isabella if we could do another “Hour with Isabella”. My theory – we have lots of people who can do a workshop on “How To Flog,” but there is only one person who can do a workshop on Isabella Sinclaire. Simply put: Isabella agreed and we are honored!

AN EXCITING FUTURE WORKSHOP UPDATE

September 19 – 3 pm.

Mistress Crimson and Hilton are the Guest Hosts for the September 19 – 20 Couples Party weekend. Both are very private people. We were not going to do a workshop, however to our delight and surprise, Hilton suggested he present a talk, replete with informal conversation, based on the history of his creating the finest BDSM store, NYC’s internationally known PURPLE PASSION.

Hilton began Purple Passion in his apartment in 1989! The story of the development of Purple Passion is a tale replete with incredible insights into the development of the current BDSM world. A few months ago, I had a thought that made this a must; put up photos taken by our extraordinarily talented house members and guests, and call that page “Your Point of View.” Thinking about how many fine photographers have come through our doors and having seen so many of the beautiful depictions of their visits in our dungeon, I quickly found this approach to be irresistible. Slave beauty and I undertook the initial steps, selecting the photos we wanted to start with.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH
THE BEAUTIFUL SYNCHROMISM OF
FAELU!!!  

Synchromism was a mid 20^th century art movement that focused on using color in a manner similar to color in musical orchestration. It treated color as the primary aspect for producing depth and form. Color is liberated from simply describing objects, as it becomes both the theme and structure of the work. Spatial depth and form are created by the intersection of vibrant color planes, often arranged in rhythmic, impressionist and/or abstract composition. While the formal Synchromist movement has faded away, the effect on our modern art is still powerful.

My first reaction to Faelu’s art was “Synchromism rides again!” Her color usage is precisely what Stanton McDonald Wright had in mind when he formulated synchromy as a painterly concept. In addition, she has taken the movement and texture of color that is crucial to synchomism, and successfully applied it to the “narratives” found throughout her art.

Faelu’s exquisite kinky art speaks for itself. I wrote all the above didactic (die-dactic-die) verbiage so you could share this one wonderful, subtextual, aspect of her art with me. Now on to more ART OF FAELU!

THE 2026 ANNUAL VALENTINES DAY CHOCOLATE TASTING

THANK YOU SLAVE BEAUTY !!!

Once again, slave beauty has provided us with an afternoon of delicious delights. We tasted chocolate from all over the globe, from NYS to Egypt, including: The Philippines, Belize,  Massachusetts, California, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Brussels, Columbia, and Peru. The Egyptian chocolate, “Al Nassma,” was a milk chocolate – made with camel’s milk! It was extraordinary. The Peruvian “Cacaosuyo El Ganso” was the 2025 International gold medal winner for best in the world. Several of the other chocolatiers had won the International Gold in past years as well.

Every year, slave beauty begins the tasting with a lecture on all things chocolate; from how the cacao nymph fertilizes the tiniest blooms, to how the fully mature cacao pods are transformed into chocolate. Almost all the people who attended this year had been here previously and had heard beauty’s superb presentation. The outcome: when it came time for questions, the questions were more advanced and the comparative tasting of fifteen of the best chocolate bars of 2025 was far more knowledgeable. It was like an advanced wine tasting! Over the years, slave beauty has added so much to so many taste buds. We all say thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Isabella Sinclaire has been setting the standard for our profession for thirty years. She began in California, and a few years back, decided to get away from civilization and moved to Massachusetts. There she rebuilt and then reopened “The Mansion,” a remarkable dungeon facility. Her past accomplishments are fantastic. She has influenced the lives of thousands, from clients to the Dominas and Masters who have learned from her. Her BDSM videos are beautiful art. Her skill with a whip is a joy to behold. Then, from 11am to 2pm: The Sinday Brunch. Will it be the Pancake and Sausage spectacular, or shall we once again gather at Rain Restaurant – the amazing Hong Kong Restaurant in Albany? This is to be determined once we have the opinions of all those on the guest list. Either way, we will do “Favorite Moments,” our round table of recollections of the evening past. That is a always a remarkable moment too.

Mistress Crimson and Hilton are our September treat. Crimson has been one of the best NYC Dominas for as long as La Domaine has been one of the best training chateaux. Hilton has been making his mark on BDSM for every bit as long. Hilton is the owner/proprietor of PURPLE PASSION, the all-time classic BDSM store. He is also a prince among player – and a Master of the fine art of caning; both giving and receiving! For years, the September party has been theirs. It is always a great way to enjoy classic mastery, competence and the camaraderie that exists between old friends.

This year, Mistress and Hilton have declined our invitation to do a workshop. It is a very special weekend when they are here, so we will be sure to line up a very special workshop Saturday afternoon. TBA soon.

The long-awaited VIEWS OF THE DUNGEON page is almost ready to go up. This will be a continuingly growing selection of photos taken by your guests in the dungeon. We are starting with the photographs of our former Master in Training “Rabit”, the work of house member The Purple Gigi, and one of our favorite recurring guests, Chrome Dom. These are three excellent artists with a camera. The photos are beautiful. If you have photos you have taken when visiting La Domaine, please let me know. This is an on-going inclusive project!

The other page is going to be a look at the great Dominas and Masters who have visited La Domaine in the past three decades. It is an impressive list. The page will give us a look into many of those who have helped shape our little piece o’ paradise. Working on the collation has been an eye-opening look into the wide world of superb Mistresses and Masters, and what they have contributed to make La D all that it has become.

Edwin Colon Zayas!

Only once before in the La D Newsletter, have I recommended a recording. This month, I’ve been listening to a recording so beautiful that I hope you can all listen to it. This is a stunner.

Edwin Colon Zayas is unquestionably the greatest cuatro player in the world. (The cuatro is the most important of the Latin-American fretted instruments. It is somewhat guitar shaped. It has ten strings, lowest is a set of two strings, then two separate sets of three strings, then one more set of two strings. It originated as a folk instrument and has become a major instrument in the canon of music from Venezuela, to Mexico and even to the United States, where is is the primary fretted instrument of traditional Puerto Rican music.)

I have been listening to Zayas for over twenty years. He has played with, and recorded with, an amazing array of Mambo, Salsa, Bomba, Rhumba and virtually every other rhythmic major Latin orchestra that is out there. In 2009 he was recognized by The National Endowment for the Arts when his devotion to the traditional music of Puerto Rico earned him a coveted NEA Heritage Fellowship.

I had the enormous pleasure of running into “El Rey de la Campesinos” last month, while visiting La D family member Simon, who lives in the town Cayey, in the Central Mountain Range of Puerto Rico. Cayey is a town of 40,000 people. So many famous Latin Musicians have come out of Cayey that there is actually a small museum/hacienda on the town plaza dedicated to just the musicians of Cayey. (It is the only museum in the world devoted to the musicians of one town – that is how musical Cayey is.

 Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this little hacienda becomes the center of a community musical gathering. Guitars, cuatros, congas, bongos, rattles and scrapers, make up the instrumentation, and one local person after another gets up and sings traditional songs. The place is jammed. It is the finest community jam session I have ever attended, and I have attended them, and organized them, from Stephentown to Morocco. On my first Friday night of this spectacular encounter, there was one cuatro player who was outstanding. At one point, he was finally introduced, and it was Edwin Colon Zayas! He lives two hours away and had simply dropped by to take part in what he knew is a wonderful event. Of course I seized the opportunity to get to know him. WOW! Did we ever hit it off. It was two old mountain musicians, each with their own deep traditional roots, meeting.

We talked and we clowned around. Zayas had his enchanting wife take the picture of two very happy new friends. 

When we parted, Edwin give me a copy of his latest CD: “OS VELHINHOS.” This album is BRILLIANT. The musicianship is simply breathtaking. His technical Mastery of the cuatro, his understanding of the intricacies of Latin rhythms, his phrasing and above all, the tastefulness and subtlety of his improvisational note choices, is dazzling. This CD is ten tracks of musical heaven. Also more than worthy of your attention – Nelson Saavedra Barreto accompanies Zayas on the guitar, and that is some of the finest accompaniment I have heard. It is precisely what Edwin Colon Zayas deserves. Here we go again! Our favorite annual event starts the 2026 season. As always, the lovely slave beauty will be bringing the finest chocolates from around the world for us all to sample. Before the sampling, beauty does her remarkable slide show/lecture on all things chocolate. It really is an amazing lecture. Beauty presents this around the country and we are once again thrilled to offer this presentation in the La D dungeon. After the lecture and tasting, we take the “leftover” chocolate samples and decorate a very lucky slave with chocobits and once the body temperature of said very lucky slave starts to melt the chocobits… well, let’s just say the very lucky slave is in for the licking of a lifetime!

If you have ever wondered if chocolate is an aphrodisiac, the evening’s Couples Party will give you a forever answer. (Which is a resounding “Yes Virginia.”) The legendary dominatrix Belle Du Jour once remarked: “When La Domaine has a Couples Party, it is the hottest place on earth.” This is our hottest party!

This year the workshop is $50 a person. The party is $125 a couple and $350 an individual. For years, people have requested we add more photographs of the remarkable La Domaine Dungeon to the website. We have decided to go ahead and make it a full section. What we want to do is post photographs that our Guests have taken during their visits. Please consider sending us your best shots. We are primarily interested in pictures that show how delightfully well-equipped the dungeon is, but we are fine if your pictures include people enjoying our delightfully well-equipped dungeon.  We hope to have this as a continuing, add-on, project. This wonderful artist hails from Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. His art reflects a long heritage of European sensibility, and it also reflects art from around the globe. It is knowledgeable and profound.

 It contains aspects of Rembrandt’s etchings to Leonard Baskins darkly foreshadowing birds. 

The work calls for close observation and thought. Von Puschlmann refers to himself as a “Vampire batbeast.”  

We started with a drawing that I suspect is a whimsical self-portrait.

CUNT!!!

Modern politics, including sexual politics, is often a matter of reclamation. Cunt is a word that deserves this process.

The word Cunt is a derivative of the name of the Oriental Great Goddess Cunti, or Kunda – which meant the Yoni of the universe. From this root we derived a vast array of words, including country and kin. Kin not only means matrilineal relationship, but also a cleft or crevice – the Goddess’s genital opening!  Cunabula (cradle) comes from cunt, as does Cundina, the Roman Goddess who protected children in the cradle. Here’s a great one, the word Cunctipotent – all-powerful, meaning having cunt magic. Cunning, kenning, and ken (knowledge, learning, and wisdom) are rooted in cunt. This list goes on and on, with examples found in many languages from around the globe. It is easy to see that Cunt is “not slang, dialect or marginal form”, but a true language word of the oldest stock.” – (Thomas dames, The Silbury Treasure 1976).

It was medieval clergyman that brought disrepute unto Cunt., as they perceived obscenity in the female genital shrines – ie holy caves, holy wells and and groves. These places were called cunnus diaboli, meaning devilish cunt. Witches who worshipped there, sometimes assumed the names of these places. (EG: Johannes Cuntius, who was mentioned by Thomas More.)

If all of the above does not determine your own use of the power-filled CUNT, (and there is much more that I could have gone into, from all around the world and all time periods since ancient Goddess culture ruled); then consider the following: The same medieval clergymen who brough cunt into disrepute gave us another term to use. These Latin speaking purveyors of destruction gave us “vagina.” Vagina in Latin means “The sheath or scabbard for a sword.” Could there be more twisted, sexist word used to replace a holy word? Holy Politics BatCunt! Your cunt is nothing but a sheath for my sword, bitch!  If you don’t think this change of basic vocabulary matters, please go read “Language in Thought and Action,” Samuel Ichiye Hayakawa’s remarkable 1949 book on the effect of language on our thoughts, society and civilization. Remember – “all politics is local.” In this case, it begins between Momma’s legs!

THE ANNUAL TELLING OF MASTER R’S

AN XXXMAS TALE!!! 

She certainly looked beautiful, in her red velvet suit, the one trimmed with the finest of white polar ermine. All their planning and preparation was about to come to fruition. She had the red whip, the black boots, even the bag of toys. Their plan had begun to take shape nearly a year ago, when she came up with the perfect name, Madame Claws.

She had met Santa just over a year ago. He had slid down her chimney, thinking all the lights were out in the house and that everyone was sleeping. He had not noticed the one candle burning in the powder room, where she had been luxuriating in the bath. When she heard the noise on the roof, she thought; “Oh this is too good to be true!” She had quickly stepped out of the tub, put a delicate sheen of rosewater and oils on her long and sexy body, and completely naked, stepped into the living room. She quietly came up on the old man, feeling his enormous warmth, and wrapped herself like a package around him. She felt him shake like a bowl of jelly when she did that.

What a year it had been. Santa left late that first night, promising that as soon as he had emptied his bag, he would return. She of course had doubted him, she was all to used to men saying they would be back, particularly if they were married men. When the first rays of XXXmas dawn began to appear, she was amazed to hear the clatter on her roof once again. Santa slid back down, and in his rush to resume their passions, actually knocked over her tree. Oh, how they had laughed at the old man’s youthful passions.

It was Santa who introduced her to the whip. It was a long and black whip, made from the softest deer skin. Santa told her how special the whip was to him. When Blitzen had died, he had Joe Wheeler, the greatest whip maker in the world, make it especially for him to drive his sled. He joked that it was a good thing none of the elves had died recently. She laughed a mighty ho ho ho, not expecting such dark humor from a man who lit up the hearts and faces of the world’s children. “Oh, if they could only see him now,” she thought, “What a different impression of the jolly old Saint they would have to form.”

As she waited, she lustily recalled the first time he had struck her with the whip, how their eyes had met, how the lash had felt across her rounded cheeks. Santa had said how much he loved the way she clenched her ass, how her strong and trim thigh muscles rippled with each stroke. For two days they rolled and played, listening to the impatient hoofs scraping on her roof, as the reindeer, in all their invisibility and glory, pawed the shingles, snorting each time the whip cracked on her back, instead of by Rudolph’s ear. Finally, in the mid afternoon of December twenty-seventh, Santa’s cell phone went off. It was the real Mrs. Claus. She was not worried. She new of the old man’s proclivity for the delicious women he encountered on his yearly flight through the heavens. “I’ll be back this evening dearest,” she heard him say as he stood up, putting on his suit and buckling the huge belt buckle.

Slowly, Santa had won her heart, and she his. He told her, and then showed her, all the kinky toys Mrs. Claus designed and he would have the elves make all year around, for all the boys and girls who had been not so good, in fact, some would say very, very bad. The glint in his eyes would grow with his arousal. Gradually, Santa began to whisper words of endearment and desire. She could tell that old Mrs. Claus no longer fulfilled her wonderful new lover, but she certainly did not expect the proposal when it came. It came less than a month after she had ordered santa to call her Madame Claws.

“I need a guiding light, someone who knows how to drive my sled. Someone who can help keep all the elves in line, and someone who can help me and Mrs. Claus.” Santa had spent long hours discussing his plan with her and his wife of two hundred and forty five years. She often recalled her excitement, and his, when he told her that Mrs. Claus designed those toys, that Mrs. Claus craved adventure as much as Santa did.

She never suspected how exciting the old woman could be. However, she rapidly came to appreciate how all those years of sex with the old man had made Mrs. Claus into a highly skilled lover, a lover with a taste for the same beautiful young women that Santa would bring back to the pole with him. After about two months of visits, Santa had invited her to that most mysterious and desirous of all places, his workshop and home.

After arriving, (and giving him head for the entire timeless journey) she had quickly found herself in both their arms, with the old man’s candy cane in her mouth, and Mrs. Claus between her legs. To her delight and amazement, they had both wanted her to wield Santa’s whip, to bring the fire back into their arctic relationship. As Mrs. Clause had aged, she had tired of her responsibilities, and this weariness had proved difficult for both Mr. and Mrs. Claus. She had tired of driving Santa to fill his yearly task. Mrs. Claus no longer wanted to be the task Mistress for the hundreds of elves. She wanted to be claus; Santa’s alpha slave. slave claus had begged Madame Claws to take the reins.

Now it was XXXmas eve, and she stood ready and all packed for the final move. Soon the noise on the rooftop would occur, and she would be swept away, to a magic land, where she would accept forever the mantle of control that Santa and Mrs. Claus had offered to her. She felt the ermine, took her hand and ran it the length of the delicious thigh-high boots that her slave claus had made for her, from the finest reindeer skin. She touched her sex and felt her excitement grow. She would whip their jolly old asses and be certain forever that Santa’s gifts would be ready for all the children of the world.

This annual event has become everyone’s favorite La Domaine happening. Slave beauty, our Chocolustier, wearing nothing but her apron, presents her nationally recognized workshop on Chocolate and chocolate tasting. We all gather in the dungeon, to watch her slide presentation covering all things chocolate – how it grows, how the cocoa bean is harvested, how it is processed, what makes great chocolate – all interrupted by our questions in our our lust for chocoknowledge.

The lecturous presentation is followed by the Chocolate Tasting. Beauty selects the finest chocolates of the year, including many Gold Medal award winners, and we sample them all. As we feast on her delights, we compare tasting notes, as one would do at a fine wine tasting. In fact, those of us who have attended year after year even can compare regions and vintages.

Then, after what one would think would be the most delicious part of the day, we take the leftover bits of chocolate and decorate one lucky slave. After the decoration, comes the necessary removal, and let’s just say that one lucky slave really knows when they are licked – all over!

With the Valentine’s Chocolate Tasting finally falling on Valentine’s Day, we fully expect this year’s Tasting to be a sell-out. After all, what could be more romantic then all of the above at once? THIS MONTH’S ARTIST:

VICTOR VALDEZ  “JUST A DREAM”

AT MASS MOCA THROUGH 4/5/2026

Previous to my thirty + years as Master at La Domaine, I worked with art museums and universities doing lecture/performances on the relationship between American Fine Arts and American Folk Culture. From 1985 until 2002, I worked with almost every major exhibition of American art.  I worked at over 150 venues, ranging from the smallest to the most major institutions, including The National Gallery of Art, The Getty Center, and The Corcoran. I even did a residency for Yale Fine Arts Undergrads and Grad students. Everywhere I went I had a Curator of Art or of Education give me a tour of their collection. It was an extraordinary art education! With all the exhibitions and collections. I was privileged to see and work with, none has meant more to me than this exhibition of the work of Victor Valdez. His work is so stunningly beautiful, politically powerful, emotionally strong and artistically brilliant, and reassuring in that brilliance, that I decided to include this lengthy segment in our Newsletter.

Valdez is a Master of many mediums, including pastel, drawing, painting, and linework. He uses this mastery to create incredibly powerful, and beautiful, politically extraordinary art. In fact, I have not been as moved, and motivated, by any art since I first saw Picasso’s tour de force of life and death: “Guernica”. I have now gone four times and each time I have gained new insights into art, and all that is beautiful, and horrific, in America. His work has devastating power. When Lady Do went with me, she was in tears by the second piece in the exhibition. It is not just the power of his politics, it is that those politics – as ugly as they can be – are presented with an extraordinary mastery that rivals the finest artists of history. His faces, color use, lyricism and narrative ability rivals the greatest of the Renaissance Masters. Here’s a bit of what Mass MoCA says in its online exhibition promotion.

“Vincent Valdez: Just a Dream… is the artist’s first major museum survey and spans over two decades of his work, from early career drawings to current allegorical portraits. Working across painting, video, drawing, sculpture, lithography, and multimedia installation, Valdez deftly addresses the failings and triumphs of contemporary American society with a reverential focus on collective memory and overlooked political histories. Valdez states, “I create images as instruments to probe the past in order to reveal an immediacy to what is occurring today. I am alarmed by the denial of history. I have included  two other Masters’ comments on the exhibition. (It is fascinating to me to see how great Masters in one field view the work of great Masters in other fields.) I took both Master Gary and Robert Dante and thought it would be interesting to share their observations and comments. First, I can easily sum up Master Gary’s visit: Gary said “WOW” fifteen times. Here are Robert Dante’s thoughts. Incidentally, I completely agree with Robert’s closing comment.

“It’s easy to see why Victor Valdez is a controversial artist. Some gallery boards have second thoughts about displaying his work. It’s also easy to see that he transcends the subjects of his paintings with electrifying immediacy. It’s as though he took razor thin slices of moments and stretched them out to fill his gigantic canvases. His subjects are varied: the Zoot Suit riots of 1943 (rendered as a home-grown Guernica), a Ku Kux Klan gathering, the Chavez Ravine scandal (with an actual period auto highlighted by Valdez’ furious and insightful paint job) , a video of a doleful “Waltzing Mathilda” as “John’s” casket floats down the street in front of ordinary, unoccupied middle-class houses, a series of disembodied lynching victims, O.J. Simpson’s slow-mo freeway flight followed by a sea of police car lights. The sizes of the canvases are massive and monumental, but the details are specifically rendered, as with the wedding ring and wrist watch on the hand of the Klansman glowering at the painting’s viewer through the headlights of a Chevy pickup truck. His boxers are athletic and aspirational, his pastel work oceanic, his subjects unflinching. Even when they are his grandparents. You can’t simply look at his paintings; you experience them. In the still-young Victor Valdez, we have the Michelangelo of our age.” – Dante.

I did not include images for this section of the Newsletter because this is art that must be seen. A phone or computer screen cannot portray the depth and importance of Valdez’s work. It must be experienced. In my not so humble opinion, Valdez is our greatest living American artist. If you can get to Mass MoCA – DO NOT MISS THIS EXHIBITION.

Mistress Crimson, for three decades, has been one of NYC’s leading professional Dominas. Hilton has been dressing them for three decades too. (Between Crimson, Hilton and R, there are over 125 years of BDSM experience and knowledge.)  Crimson’ Q and A session is going to be a freewheeling and fascinating hour and a half. Tales of “the old days” in NYC, and insights into our lives and responsibilities as BDSM practitioners will abound. There should be humor, and if the last two Q/A sessions with our previous Guest Hosts are any indicator, there may well be some tears of remembrance. These talks have been nothing short of amazing. Down in the La D dungeon is THE place to be that afternoon.

It will also be THE place to be Satyrday night. The best of our best Mistresses, Masters and slaves will all be in attendance. The bubbly will be flowing. The cake and cookies will be plentiful. It’s a double B’day, so you can be certain – there will be a whole lot of spanking going on, and a whole lot of just about everything else too!!!

The AFTERGLOW BRUNCH is on Sinday Sept.21^st, from 11 to 2. It is R’s incredible pancakes, Maple Karen’s superb maple syrup, Guido’s sausage, and Mimosas for all. The dungeon will be open for anyone not totally exhausted from the Satyrday festivities.

AN EDUCATIONAL HERITAGE ANNOUNCEMENT

We are proud of our family members; they accomplish wonderful things. LILITHAN started out at La D as a slave. Once Lilithan mastered her submission, she became a fine Mistress in Training. Lilithan has since gone on to become a superb Professional Domina, a BDSM organizer and an Educator. 

Lilithan is currently working on connecting with kink educators and presenters to help bring more resources and knowledge to the Seattle Washington area, where she has helped organize the Seattle Kink Center.

A few words on this season’s q and a workshops.

When I looked at the accomplishments of the amazing Guest Hosts for this season, it struck me that everyone of them could easily do a workshop on some technical skill, but also, each one of them has had an incredible BDSM life journey and now has a remarkable story to tell. I personally wanted to hear those stories in their original voice. Put another way; I could find many people who could to a workshop on whipping, or roping, etc, but only Mistress Crimson could do one one Crimson, only Robert Dante could do one on Dante, only Master Sno could do one on Master Sno, and only Isabella Sincalire could do one on Isabella Sinclaire. I decided to take the q/a approach and I am so glad I did.  Isabella’s q/a was incredibly powerful. That was followed by Master Sno’s extraordinary q/a. Both were incredibly candid and insight filled. Both literally had people choked up at times. Individually, they were remarkable experiences. However, those who have attended both Isabella’s and Sno’s workshops know that the cumulative effect of the two workshops was an absolutely terrific learning experience. We have two more of these q/a workshops left this season. Mistress Crimson and Robert Dante will both be sharing their life stories and wisdom gained. I cannot recommend highly enough that you try to get here for at least one of their talks. As I said, the cumulative effect is absolutely terrific. Take Master’s advice (ha!) and come for a q/a with the world’s best.

BEETHOVEN’S NINTH SYMPHONY August 24th!

Tanglewood is the summer home of The Boston Symphony Orchestra. It is located in Lenox, MA on acres and acres of grassy, perfectly manicured lawns. Every year, Tanglewood ends its summer season with the stunningly powerful Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with full orchestra and The Tanglewood Festival Chorus singing the famous last movement’s Ode To Joy, with brilliant, famous soloists It is a magnificent time and place to gather. The Tanglewood gates open at one, the performance is at 2:30. We will gather on the lawn and picnic at one. It’s a bring a dish affair. We will bring the bubbly! Lawn tickets are $37 at the box office (available anytime and the day of the concert) or $46 online, (BSO.Org.) and well worth either price.

An interesting aside for classical music lovers: the legendary Zubin Mehta will be conducting. Mehta is now 89 years of age. Amazingly – he has never conducted the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At 89, this is his debut performance. Another interesting fact: Mehta was a student at The Tanglewood Music Center in 1954.

This weekend is truly a highlight of the 2025 party season. No need to come to the party if you would like to just join us for the picnic and a performance of one of the greatest pieces ever composed by any mortal.

I really love fine graphite. Delicacy in graphite, and charcoal, takes true mastery. Hoopaah, who hails from Jacksonville Fl, gets the Master honorarium from me. Once again, The Public Domain Review provides us with some incredible works that have just entered the public domain. “In the 1980s, as archivists were cataloguing the estate of Bolette Berg (1872–1944) and Marie Høeg (1866–1949), they found a suitcase labeled “private” and proceeded to crack it open. Inside this cache — stored in a barn off the back of the couple’s home near Oslo, which they had purchased after years of running a commercial photography studio — were hundreds of images, taken after the working day had finished. The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.

If you are anywhere near North Adams MA, this is an exhibition not to be missed. It is staggering, power-filled political-social art at the highest level. Not only are the themes stunning, but the handling of a wide range of mediums is all at the finest level of Mastery. Valdez, in his own words, has ‘been an artist since he was three.” Now in his mid-forties, he must be considered to be among our century’s most brilliant artists. There are those who call themselves Masters. There are those that others call Masters. And then there are those that other Masters call Masters. Master Avery is one of those that I unhesitatingly call Master.

Unfortunately, our plans to do the Valentine’s week Chocolate Tasting on Feb 15^th didn’t work out. Our Chocolustier, slave beauty, had to request the re-schedule. Those of you who have told me you are coming, oh, I mean attending, will now need to reconfirm reconfirm.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with our Valentine’s Week Annual Chocolate Tasting, here’s the details. Slave beauty is a renown desert chef and Master of all things chocolate. For the past several years, she has done her remarkable CHOCOLATE LECTURE AND TASTING here at La Domaine. She begins with a slide lecture presentation on how the magic beans are grown, harvested, cured, processed and turned into the world’s best chocolate. Then, slave beauty guides us through the tasting of some of those world’s best and often often gold medal winners. We explore flavors, textures, tempering and just about everything else that is happening in our mouths. It’s quite a remarkable learning experience. Last year’s selection ranged from Massachusetts to Peru, to Madagascar, to Denmark, to Tanzania and other countries. The range of flavors and textures etc is always absolutely amazing. Those of us who have been attending for years have even reached a point where we can compare yearly vintages of the world’s best chocolates! After the tasting is concluded, one very lucky slave gets all the left-over bits and pieces strategically placed on their body, and – do I really need to tell you the rest? Let’s just say:” Yes Dorothy, chocolate really is anaphrodisiac.”

After the afternoon revelry, we take a dinner break, and then guests return to La Domaine for the party at eight in the dungeon. This always seem to be one of the sexiest parties of the year and that is probably because: “Yes Dorothy, chocolate really is an aphrodisiac.”

When I heard of this venture, I contacted the publishers, Commander Starlight and Madame Glacier, and asked what I could do to help. I really miss print! I suggested putting an introductory paragraph into the La D Newsletter. Here are some highlights from their reply.
Thirty-Three One-Eleven (The Crossroads of Spirituality and Sexuality) is a new mini-magazine, exclusively in print, by and for the BDSM and Kink community. This publication is dedicated to our culture, our values, and our erotica. You can expect 96 pages of kinky art, writings, subject matter content, our exclusive BDSM comic, dungeon directory, funnies, and helpful ads all focused on our subculture! “Jonathan Jonathan, what’s all the commotion.”

I am enthralled by Jonathan’s art. He considers himself an amateur. I think he is far beyond that category and well into the arena belonging to great artists. Among his many styles and subjects, Jonathan likes to take his camera and go for two-hour walks through the streets of NYC.

In this Newsletter, I thought I’d just present some of those images, and then present some of the erotic work and the nature studies in our next Newsletter. Jonathan likes to caption his pictures with thought-provoking commentary, which I have, for the most part, included. I’m not going into my own usual artistic descriptors, but I do want to comment on how effectively Jonathan uses color enhancement.

“The Riverside Drive Viaduct, built in 1900 by New York City, is a viaduct constructed to connect an important system of drives in Upper Manhattan by creating a high-level boulevard extension of Riverside Drive over the barrier of Manhattanville Valley to the former Boulevard Lafayette in Washington Heights. /// The elevated steel highway of the viaduct extends above 12th Avenue from approximately 127th Street to 135th Street and is shouldered by masonry approaches. I generally prefer au natural, but Jonathan makes me wonder what the great Renaissance colorist masters, who ground and mixed their own pigments, would have done with our modern resources. Like those masters before him, Jonathan mixes his pigments with true brilliance.
